Ivan Sigal is executive director of Global Voices, a citizen media project founded at Harvard Law School's Berkman Center for Internet & Society that is now an independent, nonprofit organization. Global Voices seeks to aggregate, curate, and amplify the global conversation online by shining light on places and people other media often ignore.
Before joining Global Voices in August 2008, Sigal was a senior fellow at the U.S. Institute of Peace, where he researched digital media in conflict-prone parts of the globe. Sigal spent a decade working at Internews, an international media development organization, designing and implementing numerous media development projects in the former Soviet Union and Asia.
Sigal has also worked as a freelance photographer, and in print media as a writer and editor.
