Eduardo (Eddie) Ávila is the Founder and Director of Voces Bolivianas (Bolivian Voices), an organization that teaches the use of blogging and other participatory media tools to underrepresented groups in Bolivia, such as indigenous groups, residents from the rural countryside, and especially those from lower socio-economic backgrounds.
Prior to starting Voces Bolivianas, he was the Director of the Cathedral Scholars Program, an academic and leadership development program for high school students from the inner-city of Washington, DC, where he also taught the Participatory Media course. He is also the co-founder of the Emerging Leaders Program, which is a leadership development program for Latino and immigrant youth in Northern Virginia and Washington, DC.
Currently, he is on staff at Global Voices Online as the Regional Editor for Latin America. He holds a Master's degree in Public Administration and he currently resides in Cochabamba, Bolivia.
