Visa to Greece
VISA REQUIREMENTS
- Greece follows the Schengen Agreement provisions and the subsequent acquits concerning short term VISA issues. Countries applying the Schengen acquits in full
(EU countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, plus associated countries: Iceland and Norway, Switzerland -partially) follow a common visa policy for short-term stays of up to three (3) months in the Schengen area. The citizens of these countries are not subjected to border controls within the common area (airlines or other carriers require identification - I.D. Card or passport or any other piece of identification issued by a public authority).
- Citizens of the following EU and other European countries DO not need a VISA to enter Greece (and the Schengen area). They have only to produce a passport or an I.D. card at the border.

- For holders of regular passports of the following countries who wish to visit Greece (and the Schengen area) and stay up to 3 months (90 days) within a six (6) month period, NO VISA is required:

- Holders of regular passports from the rest of the world need a VISA in order to enter Greece (and the Schengen area)
NOTE: When traveling to Greece on a tourist VISA, visitors are required to have travel insurance that covers cases of medical or other emergencies for the duration of the stay.
Only registered GFMD participants with a passport from countries under category 4 need to apply for a VISA.
Step one:
Wait to receive invitation letter in order to register to the Conference. Upon successful registration you will be provided with a participation confirmation letter and ID number. You will need to provide the confirmation letter along with ID number when applying for your Visa and for any issue regarding your participation, so please take good care of them.
Step two:
Remember, countries belonging to category 1, 2, & 3 do not need a VISA. Only registered GFMD participants with a passport from countries under category 4 need to apply for a VISA.
Step three:
Upon receipt of your VISA request, AC&C will send you (via email) a VISA Invitation Letter.
Step four:
Visit the nearest Greek Consulate to apply for a VISA; make sure to have all the aforementioned documentations with you.

In case there is no Greek Embassy in your country, please find at the end of the page, the list with the Parallel Accreditation Countries, where you can address to, in order to get your VISA
VISA APPLICATION PROCEDURE
You may visit the Greek Embassy in the certain country - please get informed about the days and the working hours of the Embassy before you visit it - for submitting a VISA application in person.
All VISA applicants will be informed about the Embassy's decision on the spot if the decision is positive or at a later stage, if there is a need for further investigation.
If you cannot apply in person, you may present your application and supporting documents to the nearest Embassy or Consulate of your country under the instructions of the certain Greek Embassy.
Documents you need to present to the Greek authorities:
- Participation Confirmation letter.
- VISA Invitation letter.
- Travel insurance.
Each consulate besides the aforementioned documentations may request the following documentations:
Valid passport or travel document acknowledged by Greece, Photos, Evidence of personal financial means of legal origin sufficient to cover living expenses of applicant without his/her being professionally engaged in Greece, Declaration of residence address in Greece, Written Verification of health coverage (hospitalization, medical and pharmaceutical care), Certificate of Penal Record issued by local authorities, Certificate of Health depicting that applicant is not suffering from transmittable infectious diseases, Hotel and flight ticket reservations (and copy thereof), Certificate establishing applicant's family status.
NOTE: You are kindly requested to consult the Greek Consulate regarding required documentation before you apply for a VISA.
